Darren Roth, Animal caregiver, Rescue Ranch Sanctuary. Vacaville, CA
What motivates me every single day to work at a farmed animal sanctuary is knowing the silent suffering these beings we rescue endure. Once my eyes became open to the horror that all farm animals used for ”food” have to go through, I couldn’t be silent anymore. I decided to volunteer at a farmed animal sanctuary because it was one of the only ways, other than going vegan, that I could make a difference in these poor beings’ lives! I was fortunate enough to eventually find employment at Animal Place, thankfully! Although the work is very labor intensive, subject to all kinds of weather, a lot of heartbreak and sadness, the reward of seeing the ”thank you” in the eyes of a rescued farmed animal who was saved from slaughter is all the reward I could ever ask for.
